Confirmation 2019-2020 Notices
Dear Fellow Confirmation Candidates, Parents, & Sponsors--
Hello Confirmation 2020 Families! We are continually praying for all of you during this time and hope families have adjusted to their new remote-learning schedules. After much thought, consideration, with the guidance of Father Michael and input from the OLA School and OLA School of Religion, we have made the decision to postpone the Confirmation Mass and Rite to Fall 2020.
This was a difficult decision for all of us. Having the Mass and Rite at the end of April, would make ceremony planning uncertain. Many of you may have sponsors who would need to travel, and at the moment, it may be impossible to do so.
Because of the abrupt way things closed, our Confirmation Program was unable to deliver the integral faith-formation needed to prepare the candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation. We want to continue serving the catechetical needs of the children, but we are finding no feasible way to do so with our current conditions.
We know that this postponement is in the best interests of all. It is important that we freely enjoy this sacrament together. When we are given our new date, we will be sure to let you know. The possible dates we requested are:
Choice 1 - Saturday, September 26 at 10am
Choice 2 - Saturday, September 19 at 10am
Choice 3 - Saturday, October 3 at 10am
Due to the postponement of the Confirmation Mass and Rite, but also to be thorough in the preparation of receiving the sacrament, Father Michael would like the following things to happen:
- 2-day retreat scheduled for August 8-9, 2020 (before the start of the new school year)
- 2-3 classes to deliver instruction and answer any questions before the Rite
- 2 rehearsal days (usually the Monday and Friday before the dates requested above)
Please pencil these items into your family calendars. The above, although abbreviated, will round out the preparation necessary to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. We thank you for your continued support in helping our young people become closer to Christ. Please contact us if you have any questions. God bless and be well.
