Dear School of Religion Students and Parents,
As the feast of Pentecost approaches, we want you to know that we are praying that each of you is filled with the Holy Spirit. It is time to celebrate the gifts we were given at Baptism and were brought to fruition with Confirmation. These gifts and fruits of the Spirit will be affirmed in our Confirmandi in the sacrament of Confirmation soon.
Pentecost marks the birthday of the Church. It also marks the close of this school year for Our Lady of Angels School of Religion. We are happy to be in community virtually with our closing Mass. View the Mass below this letter or CLICK HERE.
Our First Eucharist and Confirmation candidates and their families are still journeying toward their sacraments, unlike in years past. Hopefully, we will be able to celebrate these wonderful encounters with Jesus and his Spirit very soon.
Let us all take time in the next few days to continue to discern our gifts and how we want to share them within our family, our class, our workplace, our community, and our church.
We must remember Jesus’ words, “Be not afraid!” This is why Jesus sent us his Spirit, to be God present in us and around us. When we are filled with the Spirit, we are not afraid to share God’s love with others! We are not afraid to share our gifts with each person we meet each and every day.
We are thrilled to announce this year’s eighth grade winner of the Gary Norton Award. Congratulations to our School of Religion Confirmation II Student, Caitlin Kall. She will be sharing the $1000 award with an OLA School Student, Mia Radeff. Here is an excerpt from Caitlin’s winning essay:
“Through my journey of faith at OLA with Religious Education, being selected to help lead a Confirmation retreat, Altar Serving and joining the OLA Youth Group, I have made choices to spend my time in the service of others, my peers and the OLA community.”
We are so proud of Caitlin’s answer to discipleship. CLICK HERE to view the letter from the Men's Club.
We are grateful for the love and support of our parish families, especially our School of Religion Parents, for your response to Jesus' call to form the faith in your children.
We would like to thank all our volunteer teachers, aides, and parish priest for their ministry and loyal service to our parish children. We appreciate their gifts, talents and faith that they share with one another and their students.
We look forward to seeing you all in the next 2020-2021 school year. Registration will begin on June 1 and conclude on June 30. All existing students will receive an email to expedite registration this year. For new incoming students, an online form will also be available at ola.community under the School of Religion home page.
Have a great Pentecost, a restful summer, and know that Jennie Lyn and I are with you in spirit and in the Spirit!
Love and Prayers,
Jennie Lyn and Johna
