K-6 School of Religion Families
Letter/Week #3, March 31, 2020
I hope you are all well. If it is too stressful to complete the Gospel Weekly with your child each week, please concentrate on night prayers and the gospel pages only. I totally understand that your days are hectic with working from home, working on school work with your children, and possibly trying to entertain toddlers or teens, and trying to maintain some routine with meals and wash to do in “your spare time”!!! I can only imagine since I live alone now, but all those memories do flood back …
I do hope that you can participate in Holy Week preparations with your family. In my video, I spoke of the Palm Sunday Procession down Cortez Avenue! I remember when my children first attended that celebration in 1979!!! We have witnessed Fr. Michael leading a donkey down the street in remembrance of Jesus’ entering Jerusalem to shouts of “Hosanna!” and midst waving palms in recognition of his power and glory.
That quickly turns to the events leading to his Passion and Death.
If you have some extra time, there is a booklet of the Stations of the Cross in the Venture Gospel Weekly, 4/5, that you can copy and share with your family. It might be a way for you to pray together each evening in the week to come…
If you have very young children, you may not want to create too vivid a picture. Instead remind them that Jesus loves them sooooo much, he would do whatever his Father thought was best. Parents do love their children that much, I hope, that they would do whatever was needed to keep them safe…keeping them at home during these days is one example. These are difficult times, but it is because of love, that we stay apart!!
Keep well, trust that God’s plan for us will help us to become his HOLY people!
Love and Prayers,
