Hello School of Religion Families,
It comes with great sadness that our School of Religion Program was advised to stop classes on campus for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. Teachers, students and families have expressed that there was no closure for the classes and expressed how much we all love being here at OLA School of Religion.
Below is the information we received during our class time on Tuesday, March 10. This notice came from Sr. Celeste Arbuckle, Office of Faith Formation, Archdiocese of San Francisco:
"As many know this is a very serious time of keeping our communities safe from COVID-19. Here is the way faith formation programs will be handled for the safety of all in the Archdiocese of San Francisco.
As of Thursday, March 12, no more Faith Formation Programs will be held in the Archdiocese of San Francisco for the rest of this school year (March through May). The parish is responsible for giving the textbooks and materials to the parents/guardians and instructing them to finish the materials with the child at home.
One or two weeks before the sacraments are to be celebrated with the children/youth the Parish Catechetical Leader must schedule a meeting with the candidates to make sure that they are prepared for the sacrament and how to receive the sacrament.”
We will be finalizing our distant learning program will send out a notice how we will move forward, starting the week of March 23.
Although this closure was not anticipated, we understand the safety and well being of our students is our top priority.
Let us continue to keep our faith growing, praying for the sick and praying for hope with our families during this challenging time. As with all difficulties, blessings will follow.
We love you all and are here to support you and your family in any way we can.
