OMG! - OLA Multicultural Group

Faith and Fun!

OMG! is a faith-based social group. We host cultural events all year long for EVERYONE. We pay tribute to international faith-based traditions, culinary delights, film, music, dance, and other fun activities which celebrate customs around the world. Our goal is to provide a welcoming environment for people of all cultures who walk through our doors. We foster a loving and inclusive spirit by celebrating our diversity - and most importantly, the faith that brings us together. Contact Errol Zshornack if you would like to join us! (He's the handsome guy in the middle!)

Upcoming OMG! Events:

Stop by our Cafe OLA, a monthly "after mass" social following the 6:00 p.m. Sunday mass in the adjoining Hall of Saints (or in the outdoor courtyard if weather permits). We pick out a monthly culinary theme and mass attendees drop off a small platter of appetizers in the Hall before they settle in for mass. See the Sunday Bulletin for more details. Here are our next two dates:

September 25: BBQ THEME (Int'l Kabobs)

October 15: Octoberfest (Bavarian dishes)

Please email Lara Montoya or Eileen Bernabe if you'd like more information on bringing a dish or helping us to host our Cafe OLA. The more the merrier!

Spiritual Events: Celebrate Faith Traditions

Sacred Heart of Jesus: This beautiful multicultural mass celebration is held on the first Friday of the month. Enjoy our choir and after-mass potluck.

Filipino Choir: These harmonic voices are celebrating their 21st year of performing contemporary Christian and traditional Filipino music on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th 6:00 p.m. Sunday masses of the month.

Other Traditions Around the World: Check out our bulletin for special saints day and spiritual celebrations honoring our Catholic traditions around the world.

Please email Gene Rebosura if you'd like more information on upcoming spiritual celebrations.

We're kicking off our movie series for the first time this year. Our first International Movie Night Mixer is scheduled for Friday, November 18th in the Lower Hall at 7:00pm, accompanied by popcorn and drinks. Our team will unveil the family film of choice when we get closer to November. We are thinking about offering up an international family film once per quarter as an alternate to our Sunday evening mixer. Save the date!

A multicultural group would not be complete without a trip to the local tavern for an adult evening of Karaoke "SINGALONG". More details to be provided on this fun evening in March to toast the Luck of the IRISH!

We are looking for a few parishioners who can teach us how to play MAH Jong - Chinese Style. We are looking to host the first small group session in February to coincide with Chinese New Year. Please email Errol Zshornack if you would like to share your skills or if would like to learn how to play.

Participate in the planning. We welcome new ideas for fueling our cultural appetite. Our next meeting is on Sunday, September 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Rectory Patio. Please contact Marilyn Ansari if you would like to join us.
